FAREWELL 2011

From school days, travelling down the memory lane to college days... This poem I wrote bidding farewell to our immediate seniors.

FAREWELL 2011

Farewell to thee, farewell to thee;
Farewell budding engineers to be!!
Each had a dream in his eyes for so long,
And laboured for years so nothing went wrong.

Each student had a different song,
Various thoughts echoing for long;
Some had grace and some had voice,
Talents galore with varied choice.

They proved their mettle time and again,
Brought glory to college and heaps of fame.
Now, they proved themselves this time again,
With campus selections the results did rain.

With all hearts filled with joy and zeal,
We wish luck to all and happiness to feel.
Farewell to thee, farewell to thee;
Farewell budding engineers to be!!

SHARING

One of the poems I wrote in my school days and recited and was awarded. Recently too, I recited the poem in GIFLIF (Great Indian film and literature festival) Slam Poetry contest, few weeks back. Hope you all like it. Don't forget to comment. After all it's all about 'sharing' (your thoughts)...

SHARING

The recording of the poem's recitation at GIFLIF -

“This violin belongs to me, you see!” my brother yelled at me.
The obstinacy in his eyes was indeed unbearable for me.

I tried to calm him, with all my might; but that’s easier said than done.

So, I used words, my last weapon, to make his temper run.

“Sharing; a synonym of caring, is what it means to me.
So, if you have a heart, it’s said, you have an urge to part.
Sharing is like the river pure, flowing from mighty mountains,
Feeding its water to the plains, giving life to the grains.

What if the warmth of the sun, it had never bestowed on?
The darkest hour would lead to another, not a marvelous dawn.
Think of the dried landscapes, the barren deserts formed;
If the mountains had been, ill-conceited and mean – sounds like the dooms-day indeed.

So lend a helping hand to few and life will be a dream to you.
Share your troubles, your joys, your griefs and see your happiness increase.
Meanness spells an eclipse of greed, so share you must and share you should,
And be the human made by God, above all creation.”

With these words, I saw my brother with tears rolling down his eyes;
Handing his violin to me he agreed, he was sorry and aggrieved,
And I hugged him and said, “It was human to make mistakes”,
To which, he said, “My dear sister, your lesson would I always share,
As the person who shares, indeed, is the person who really cares.”

Gratitude

Whatever there is, is a gift. The present we must value - every present moment. But as humans we tend to forget it. Take everyth...
