A little corner of my home

Breathing oxygen and carbon dioxide in turns

A reminder emphasizing the importance of different things at different times

What is magic in the morning might act as poison at night.

Colourful, beaming beings -

A place where I find refuge, always

From the madness that engulfs me.

My Little garden, which is -

more heart-felt than beheld.

These tiny flowers, plants, trees, grass are -

An expression of all that's good in the world.

I write this little blog-piece sitting on a chair in the garden all the while,

while Lucy, my cat chatters at birds flocking above

And mews at me taking turns.

I witness life in all forms around and beyond me.

Nature has its way of enthralling you.

My Little garden is home to daisies, periwinkles, Bougainville, roses, marigolds, jasmines, sunflowers, china pinks, petunias, lilies etc.

And infinite other flowers which bloom in some/every season 

Every flower when pampered - thrives and when it's time comes - dies

Reminding us

That life is meant to be lived while you can and -

Death a necessity,

Nature's inevitable truth.

Natural greenary's healing properties go beyond our perception and understanding.

My Little garden has been a witness to all seasons and moods.

While autumn does occur every once in a while; 

It has learnt to blossom in every spring.

Quoting Shelly - 'If winter comes, can spring be far behind.'

A BEAUTIFUL MIND

Just like the myriad dresses that fit me or rather do not!

There is not one mold the human brain would fit in!

And yet on the contrary, it may fit many molds 

At the same time or/and at diverse times

At once

Or

At different junctures…

Always have been at awe of the human mind

And yet not friends with it all the time

though - 

It has been a good friend 

Just as - 

The worst enemy,

sometimes,

ironically.

I feel connected to it - mostly

And am yet -

A total stranger

To it -

at times -

Many a time

Mind is undoubtedly what makes one unique in this - diverse jungle of diverse creatures.

And yet I am compelled to think what makes it unique, 

makes it - the most vulnerable and empathetic, again

At the same time,

manifolds.

All battles lost or won - first in the mind

Although, nonetheless it is the journey

which matters

And my intuition gets the better of me to interpret that a unified law - one is all and all is one —

Me, We —

May be underway.

Mind may as well be all that matters 

& Mind over matter

Rather matter over mind -

The unbiased reality - the unified law governing all

The sanctuary - brain or/and just as the beauty - mind 

is what makes –

A BEAUTIFUL MIND

I choose

For, life is all about choices.

Two diverging roads

I choose to

let go -

Of the baggage that drained me,

Of the pessimism that plagued me,

Of the turmoil that haunted me;

physically and mentally -

all these years -

with and without

my knowledge.

I choose to

be my own God

with due respect

to the Almighty

if there is one

for

how can one be sure

if one does not know

And yet it's not 

God thyself

rather 

the faith and devotion

thus - that makes

the difference.

I choose to

live on my own terms

Because

living in any other way

is self-defeating and deprecating

if not 

impossible.

I choose to

forgive,

to live with compassion

Revenge only destroys

both -

the subject and the object.

For, in forgiving lies greater good

not only to

oneself but –

humanity.

I choose to

pursue my passion

And, why not?

Because

anything else

seems like 

a burden.

I choose to

think

more,

more objectively

and judge less

if not - not at all

Because

it blinds you

from

perceiving

the bigger picture.

I choose to

live

in the present

because

that is 

the only possible way.

The past is dead

And the future - yet to unfold.

Worrying

about both 

is a complete waste of time; 

and might I say,

Most useless.

I choose to 

choose

Because that is going to

define the path 

of

the rest of my life.

And thank God,

there always is - 

a choice!

देह - जिसकी कोशिकाएं हर पल परिवर्तनशील हैं?

मन के विचार - जो हर पल अलग रूप लेतें हैं?

कर्ता - परन्तु कृत कार्य भी तो हर परिस्थिति में भिन्न हैं

या धारणा - वो भी जो भिन्न परिस्थिति में भिन्न है

जब मेरा देह ही हर पल बदल रहा है

और मेरा मन इधर - उधर चंचल, चपल सर्वदा है

और मेरे कार्य और धारणा परिस्थितिनुसार भिन्न हैं

क्या शाश्वत है क्या क्षणिक, कह पाना मुश्किल है

शब्दों के महासागर में मुझे समेट पाना नामुम्किन है

मैं अग्नि की तपिश भी हूं, जल की शीतलता भी 

मैं फिज़ा का वेग भी हूं, पृथ्वी का ठहराव भी

मेरा न आदि है न अंत 

न ही जीवन है न मरण

मैं सर्वलौकिक, सार्वभौमिक, सर्वज्ञ, सनातन हूं

मैं उसमें भी हूं, तुझमें भी

जीवित में भी, मृत्त में भी

मैं आत्मा हूं।

Who am I?

Body - whose cells replenish themselves throughout?

Mind's thoughts - which vary every moment?

Doer - but different actions - performed on different occasions,

Or beliefs - which differ under different circumstances;

When my body is changing constantly,

And my mind is always hither, thither - playful and agile,

And my actions and beliefs are different under different circumstances,

Difficult to judge - what is perpetual and what - momentary.

To engulf me in an ocean of words — impossible!

I am fire's warmth, water's coolness too;

I am wind's velocity, Earth's cessation too; 

I have no beginning, nor end,

Nor birth, nor death;

I am ubiquitous, universal, omniscient, eternal;

I am in him/her, I am inside you too;

I am inside those living, I am in those dead too!

I am your soul.

Happy Birthday Mohit! Presenting a little something for you (and Lucy 🐈) 🥰

भगवान से मुन्ना माँगा और मम्मी पापा ने दिया मुझे यह अनूठा तोहफा प्यारे छोटे भाई के रूप में!

चंचल, अपने नाम को हर मायने में उचित सिद्ध करने वाला - सबका मन मोहने वाला - ऐसा ही है मोहित!

दादाजी के सपने में इसामसी आए जिन्होंने इनका नामकरण किया और परिणाम स्वरूप - स्वप्न स्वरूप इनका नाम ' मोहित ' रख दिया।

और क्यों ना रखें - मोहित बचपन से ही सबका मन मोह लेता था!

जब इन्हें गोदी आना होता था - ये बहाना करते कि इन्हें (चोट) ' लद दई ' !

और जब मिट्टी खाना होता तो सबको ' गो (ल) - गो(ल) fan ' दिखाकर चकमा देते!

दुकानों में मौजूद हर खिलौना इन्हें खरीदना होता - यदि ना मानो तो - ज़मीन पर लोटकर अपनी बात मनवाते!

बचपन से ही इन्हें जानवरों से बहुत लगाव था - इस हद तक कि जब मम्मी एक बिल्ली भगा रहीं थीं - इन्होंने जाने नहीं दिया उसे - कहते हुए - ' वो मुझसे बात कर रही थी!'

और इसी जानवरों के लगाव ने - इन्हें एक प्यारी Persian cat - Lucy को कई साल बाद पालने पर प्रेरित किया जो आज 2 साल की हो गई।

सबके चहेते हैं घर में मोहित!

बचपन में Space Jam, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter - on repeat देखते थे

हरि पुत्तर (Harry Potter) की किताबें तो इन्होंने कई बार संशोधित करीं, इस हद तक कि उन्हें हर एक वाक्य और पृष्ठ अंक ज़बानी याद हो गया!

उसी तरह Lord of the Rings की भी!

बचपन में पढ़ने में इतनी रुचि नहीं थी जितनी football, डंडी से खेलने में

Video games का दीवानापन इतना था कि घंटो अपने भाई - बहनों के साथ game में नहीं हारने की पहल करते रहते!

हर समय पर हर video game में ये pro साबित हुए 

शैतान तो इतने थे कि घुटने - घुटने चलना सीखने पर सड़क तक दौड़ लगा दी (- सोचते होंगे शायद video game के पात्र हैं जिसे हर हाल में बिना हारे सड़क के उस पार जाना है)

Cartoons देखना इन्हें बहुत पसंद था ख़ास तौर पर - Popeye the sailor man, Arabian Nights, Courage - the cowardly dog, Mowgli, Looney toons, Tom and Jerry, Talespin etc...

थोडे बड़े होने पर anime जैसे - Avatar, Bleach, Pokemon और Marvel, DC के तो अब भी fan हैं!

High school में इन्होंने सभी को आश्चर्यचकित किया - Maths और Biology के कठिन होने के बावजूद दोनो exams - NEET और JEE में अच्छा प्रदर्शन किया!

पर उन्होंने Manipal institute of technology में admission लिया।

सबसे ज़्यादा चकित तो इन्होंने school में Mr. Eve का खिताब जीतकर सबको किया!

फिर college में body - building competition में Mr. Manipal - III का खिताब जीतकर सबको fitness goals दिए!

मेरी तरह बचपन से ही music का बहुत शौक है - फ़र्क यह कि ये अंग्रेज़ी धुने ही सुनते हैं।

Guitar बजाना भी मेरी तरह पसंद है - फ़र्क इतना कि मुझसे बेहतर musician हैं

Bike - riding और driving में ख़ास रुचि रखते हैं।

Timothy Ferris से काफ़ी inspired हैं और उनकी किताबें पढ़ने में बहुत रुचि रखतें हैं।

Stoicism और meditation के principles की ओर उन्हीं ने प्रेरित किया।

दोस्ती निभाने में भी माहिर हैं - चाहे भाई बहनों से या फ़िर हम - उम्र वालों से।

कुछ अलग है बाकी युवाओं से - अपनी zone में रहना - किताबें पढ़ना - series, movies देखना - video games खेलना - science में बहुत रुचि रखना — ये सभी उन्हें - एक ओर - दूसरों के जैसा तो - दूसरी ओर - उनसे भिन्न बनाता है

मेरे लिए वो एक छोटे भाई से बढ़कर मुझसे similar genetic makeup रखने वाले कुछ मेरी तरह तो कुछ मुझसे बिल्कुल अलग एक समझदार और बुद्धिमान दोस्त हैं जो मुझे समय - समय पर हक से सताते भी हैं और प्रेरित भी करते हैं।

दिल से यही दुआ है - अपने सारे सपने पूरे करें, अपने स्वभाव से सबको ' मोहित ' करते रहें, '25' साल के पड़ाव में आनंदित रहें और सभी को करते रहें, स्वस्थ रहें, जागरूक रहें, ज्ञान बांटें; मेरा आशीर्वाद और ज्ञान प्राप्त करते रहें, मेरी डांट में छिपे प्यार को बटोरते रहें।

२५ वें जन्मदिन की बहुत बधाई और ढेर सारा स्नेह!!!

A letter

Two long years without you...

Sitting by the swing in the little garden you nurtured

A thousand thoughts come rushing to my mind and make way for more through tears in my eyes

And once again your persona captivates me again only this time in my memory of you

I try to touch the wrinkles on your face only to wake up from my reverie that those wrinkles are now etched in my heart

It aches me that I don't have you to share this new journey I have embarked upon now

And believe me there are millions of stories being made every second, including the one I am jotting down now…

Every day is day one at Amazon and every second a new beginning of the myriad tales we hear from customers

It gets overwhelming many times with this and without a patient ear to listen to by my side but I know in my heart you are watching and listening to everything from above…

You are forever in my heart and with every new experience I carry you forward with me

You are like the guava tree you planted bearing fruit to everyone who needs you, the only catch is it is still here physically and you are not …

I keep wondering how you would have reacted on listening to the news of my first job and your words never really left my mind that you wanted to see me settled..

I miss touching the folds of the wrinkled skin of your cheeks.. and whenever I'd say you have grown old.. you'd say - " बुढ़ापा नहीं super-बुढ़ापा आ गया अब "…

It's raining a lot these monsoons, your room is still the same - warm, with your posters glued and your Gods as I picture you now as one…

Nothing has really changed dadaji.. still nothing is the same without you.. the कबाड़ीवाला is here and I am compelled to imagine you distributing the clutter stocked in home…

Just like you would free the clutter from everyone's mind…

Everything is just the same… and still... not the same without you...

Even smartphones are picture friendly nowadays.

Overloading और Overriding के तरीके अपनाते अपनाते मेरा दिमाग overloaded हो गया।

बचपन में पढ़ा 1 और 1 —> 2 , यहां पर कहीं 1 और 1 —> 11 हो गया।

Operator precedence ने तो a + b * c और (a + b) * c का मतलब ही अलग कर दिया;
कोष्ठक पहले या बाद में लगाने से मेरा दिमाग़ी संतुलन बिगड़ गया! 

Pointers के तो क्या कहने भाईसाहब!

कहीं पर ये बताते value तो कहीं पर address ये जनाब!

ये ना याद हो पाया कि semi - colon कहां लगाना है;

पर मेरे colon में semi - digestion ज़रूर हो गया!

यहां तक कि = और == का भी मायना अलग हो गया;

अरे! एक ही = काफ़ी नहीं था जो दो = घनचक्कर कर गया!

Uppercase और lowercase का भी झोल हो गया;

string और String में भी भेदभाव कर गया।

Constructors और destructors ने तो मेरे morale का 

destruction कर दिया।

double की range याद करते करते मेरा भेजा Puzzle हो गया!

Switch cases में break लगाते लगाते मैं भूल गई कि car

का brake कैसा होता है!

और for loop ने तो मेरे brain के loopholes को भलीभांति  उजागर कर दिया!

क्या एक ही class काफ़ी नहीं थी जो parent class, child class, friend class, virtual class, abstract class, inner class, immutable class, wrapper class...... भी बना दीं!

कहां method call करना है, कहां value pass करनी है, इन सबने तो मुझे fail कर दिया!

 

Syntax याद करते करते दिमाग़ tax हो गया!

Autoboxing और Unboxing से boxing करने की इच्छा जागृत हो गई!

अब तो दिल से यही पुकार है - Programming, आप कृपया मर Java!!!

MOVIE 'Move-it'

Lights, camera, action! 🎬 🎥🍿

A little something for the movie buff inside each one of us, ta da —

Why watch a movie, when you can live one?

Although you do live movies by watching ton;

Maybe it's the plot, a character, a setting, a song -

Or just something you fancy — the act(ing) or actor all along...

Not much of a movie buff but a little as is everyone

What really intrigues me though is why we get hooked on watching one...

We place ourselves in some character's shoes,

And live his/her life and embark the alternate reality we choose.

Sci-fi, art, romcom, thriller, action,

Documentary, history, crime, drama, fact/fiction,

- whatever genre you wanna taste - your pick - get it done

And get carried away to a 2 - 2.5 hours journey of pure bliss

Or maybe not - your choice - maybe 'live' MOVIE-sized life - give it a miss!

My point being - maybe, a movie is a short trip -

A pause button on reality we want to skip

Isn't it beautiful we can 'live' a movie we do not actually 'live'

So, I say my friend, grab your popcorn, enjoy the movie breathe and live!
